The wine "Lay" 2018 grew in an old slate layer inclined to the south. Gray and blue slate covers the floor, which heats up quickly and dries quickly when it rains. The vines are 40-year-old Riesling vines that are densely planted and therefore the roots have to penetrate deep into the soil and bring the required water upwards with great energy. The juice fermented slowly and gradually turned into wine that could rest on the yeast for a long time. As always, the wine in the cellar wandered between old oak barrels and stainless steel, was refilled twice to completely remove the yeast and clarify the wine.
The wine has a high density, exudes a majestic calm and is stimulatingly fresh and has a large drinking flow.
This wine should be enjoyed with dedication in a large Zalto or Riedel glass. He has many "tongues" and a great willingness to tell stories about the terroir and the 2018 vintage. It is a "naked" wine, without any additives, without sulfur and filtration, and after opening it creates an abundance of aromas that change every 10 minutes. So you can really deepen a wine meditation and understand that the Riesling wines from the Moselle and Rhine were counted 120 years ago among the most expensive and popular wines in the world. Because this wine is "old-fashioned" in a positive and impressive way. This is how the wines tasted when Riesling wines from Germany were an integral part of the menu at every Nobel Prize gala dinner.

RITA UND RUDOLF TROSSEN - The winemaker of Lay Purus
Besides Lay Purus see all RITA UND RUDOLF TROSSEN wines.

The wine village Kinheim-Kindel is located in the midst of the ancient cultural landscape of the Middle-Mosel. Already the Celts and Romans were using the ideal climatic conditions to grow wine in the region. Five Roman villas used to exist within the borders of Kinheim-Kindel. In the gravel of one of those villas a unique statue of the Gaulish-Roman god of vintners and coopers, Sucellus, was found.

The soil of weathered grey and blue slate gives fine fruit aromas and stimulating minerality to the wines that are produced here. Wines from Kinheim are rarely heavy and alcoholic but of a delicate fragrance and contained in their saline and cooling zest. The Romans knew why they tended their vines here. Since 1978 we continue their efforts for a natural viticulture. With the help of biodynamic supplements we can incentivise the processes in the vineyards, so our wines can speak of their heritage. "With nature for good wine" is our motto, and our success speaks for itself.
