FIO WINES - NIEPOORT KETTERN - The winemaker of Jo Jo Mosel see all FIO wines.
In the beginning it was the FIO idea, Wines to be aged longer in order to achieve natural stabilization over time like as it was done before. Dirk Niepoort, his son Daniel and the Mosel winegrower Philipp Kettern quickly agreed on the red thread of the new project: It can only happen in the Mosel. And it can - of course - only be Riesling. Meanwhile, Daniel's brother Marco is also a member of the FIO family. All Mosel wines come from sustainable steep slopes, the grapes are carefully cultivated by hand, the trio manages 16.5 hectares of vineyards in different Located around the Piesport winery location - 7 hectares of which are in steep slopes. Fermented spontaneously, the wines remain on the lees for a long time, they are aged in the large old „Moselfuder“. Within the filling, there is basically no filtration and only minimal sulfurization. The wines then have the necessary time and rest to mature in the bottle for up to two years.
