Winemaking: Organic viniculture, Herbicide-free farming, Traditional hand picking, Use of indigenous yeast. Produced from typical Dão grape varieties, cultivated in an ecological way, absolutely respecting their territory of origin.

Produced with the noblest white grape of the Dão region, called Encruzado, cultivated ecologically with complete respect for the terroir. After a strict selection in the vineyards. After the crushing of whole grapes, it decanted for 24 hours. Natural fermentation occurred in stainless steel vats for almost 2 months. The wine lees (with a gentle battonage).

Taste: Mineral and floral, fresh and structured, pure and deep. Hints of peach, lime and orange blossom. Large presence on the mouth, perfect balance, with impressive purity of fruit, full of flavor, freshness and a crisp citrus acidity. To the table but also to keep some bottles on the cellar because we can also expect surprises after a few years! Perfect match with soft cheese, pasta and other italian food. It goes quite well with fat fish such as codfish, salmon or tuna.

CASA DE MOURAZ - The winemaker of Encruzado White Dao
Besides Encruzado White Dao see all CASA DE MOURAZ wines.

CASA de MOURAZ was created by António Ribeiro and Sara Dionísio, who left their jobs in Lisbon and immersed themselves in what has become a family adventure, a version of sustainable viticulture and authentic winemaking. Mouraz, situated in the heart of Dão region, is António’s birth place, where his family has farmed vineyards in a holistic and ecological way for many generations.

This is also a place where the landscape and terroir is shaped by its people and geography, old and new vineyards coexisting with the pine, oak, chestnut and cork trees in a wild forest. This diversity is reveals itself in the personality and complexity of the CASA de MOURAZ wines, and reflects all their passion for this place.

The farm is spread over several parcels with different soils (granite and clay) and altitudes ranging from 140 to 400 meters. The most important indigenous grape varieties are Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Baga and Água-Santa for the red wines and Malvasia-Fina, Bical, Cerceal, Encruzado and Alvarinho for the whites.

All the vineyards that are part of CASA de MOURAZ gained ECOCERT’s Organic certification in 1997. In 2006 we began working with Biodynamic preparations and practices and we are now doing the conversion with Demeter.

The work done by CASA de MOURAZ was quickly recognized internationally, becoming a member of the prestigious Biodynamic wine group “Renaissance des Appellations” since 2009.
